Images of the feral Muscovy Ducks.

There is a lovely lake not too far from where I live which always has a host of wildfowl visiting it. For this reason it is one of my go-to places for a photo walk.

On my last visit, I came across a large group of Muscovy Ducks searching for food next to the water. While these very odd looking birds were feeding, they were also doing an strange “dance”. This involved a lot of nodding and bowing their heads. I can only assume that this is a form of communication.

This continued for some time, and each time another bird walked over to the group they would bob their head and bow. It was a truly fascinating display.

The Muscovy Ducks are not native to the UK (They originate from Mexico, central and South America).  Feral varieties can be found in many parts of the world, including the UK.
