Essex Skipper butterfly

A couple of weeks ago I spent the day visiting a meadow. I have already shared some images of butterflies I photographed, such as the Small Tortoiseshell and the Painted lady. Today I thought I would share with you another butterfly I discovered that day.

This colourful orange butterfly is called the Essex Skipper, the main distinguishing feature is the black tips at the ends of the antennae. Those without this black tip are the Small Skipper butterflies.

This little fella was approximately 3 cms  and was at rest on the leaf for a few minutes before flying off again.
