Fantastic competition win for vintage ponies
You may recall, I enjoy entering the occasional photograph competition! They give me inspiration for projects and can be great fun to enter. Back in July, I found out that I had another competition win with a new image!
3rd place competition win!
A company called Picture Frames Express hold a monthly photo competition. The theme for June was Toys.
I decided to use some of my original 1980s My Little Ponies for my subjects. To make them look like they were in a natural habitat, I took them into my garden and had a play!
It was a particularly bright sunny day, so I needed to use a diffuser over the top of the toys to soften the light and prevent glare on the plastic.
I used my 100mm macro lens to capture this shot. I wanted a soft look, so opened up my aperture to f4.5. This created a lovely bokeh background, making the subjects more prominant.
Once I captured the image I decided to add some faded effects to create a more vintage look.
