Amazing double shortlisting for photographers images

How do you cope with disappointment? I set myself up for disappointment every month by entering photo competitions. To be honest I am starting to learn to deal with it. However, it is always a welcome bonus when discovering that one of my images has been shortlisted in a competition – not once but twice in a month. Yep, I got a double shortlisting!

Shortlisting

The first “win” I had, was not technically a competition. I enter my photos in for a critique with the photographer academy each month. This is where a professional photographer goes through the images and lets you know how you can improve.

I won’t lie to you. There have had a mixed bag of reviews over the year for my images. However, I do like it though as I can learn how to improve from these and grow as a photographer.

During the October review webinar, my latest image was reviewed. I was absolutely shocked and delighted to have my image given high praise. It was also put in the top 5 images for the month.

So the image that was so highly regarded? It was this purple flower image that I have edited into a painterly style.

Photo Competitions

The second image was a runner up in the digital splash competition. Each month there is a different theme, and in May the theme was Documentary.

That is not a theme I would normally consider entering. However, I had decided to give it a go! I am so pleased I did!

This was my image. It was photographed in an oboe factory where they still hand make beautiful instruments. I wrote a blog post on my experience in the oboe factory a while back, you can check that out here.
