Lockdown panel wins a place in the Founders Cup shortlist

Each year the Guild of Photographers holds the Founders Cup award. Photographers are encouraged to submit a panel of three images to be judged by an expert panel.

Founders cup

The Guild of Photographers is an Association with several thousand members that promotes learning and high standards for photographers everywhere. It runs “The Founders Cup” to acknowledge Roy Doorbar and Ian Gee, who founded the Guild in 1988.

Entrants had to submit 3 images which were connected or themed in some way. Then, a panel of highly respected judges have reviewed all the entries and narrowed them down to just 10 finalists.

I was one of those finalists with 3 images from my Lockdown series. The images have been prepared in print format and were assessed by another panel of judges in December 2020.

Guild Director Lesley Thirsk says: “To have been selected to reach the final is a great achievement, and shows how talented Sara Sadler is.”

The overall winner is usually announced at an Awards night held at a Jacobean mansion in Cheshire in February where the winner receives a trophy. However, this year due to the restrictions the Guild will be holding a virtual awards night for its members.
