Signs of Spring image snaps up first place win in a photo competitions
One of the photo competitions that I enjoy entering each month is run by the company Picture Frames Express. They have many interesting themes. During April it was Signs of Spring.
Signs of Spring
This theme is an interesting one as it can be interpreted in so many ways. During spring you can observe baby animals both in the wild and on-farm open days. Also, there are the emerging spring flowers adding so much colour to our towns and countryside.
Winning image
I was having a lazy day when I captured this image. I knew I wanted to photograph nature and the coming of spring but was not really in the mood for travelling very far to capture it!
My garden has become a haven for wildlife and beautiful flowers. In particular, I have noticed a greater variety of birds visiting in recent months.
It wasn’t long before I noticed a pair of blackbirds landing on my fence, in the plum tree or in our magnolia tree. They were obviously nest building as each time they returned there would be small twigs in their beaks.
I was particularly pleased with this image, as it captured the seasonal animal behaviour while framing the bird within the blossom of the plum tree.
Prize winning
This win could not have come at a better time for me. I am in the process of planning my images to be featured in the LOCA arts trail (as you may have seen in a previous post). So being able to purchase some new frames for this exhibition is fantastic!
As well as my vouchers I am also featured in the blog post on their Picture Frames Express website – which is always nice!
