The start of a New Year – the start of a new project. Introducing January 52
It’s the start of a new year and the start of another 52 frames project. Last year I really enjoyed being given a theme to photograph each week. You can catch up with my images from January 2021 here. It wasn’t always easy, but I enjoyed the challenge. So this year I decided to give it a go again. Here are my entries for January 52.
Week one: Self Portrait (Rembrandt lighting)
As it was the first challenge of the year, I decided to give the extra credit a try this week. I really struggled to get the light in the right place and capture a self-portrait. However, After a while of playing around, I eventually managed to capture this moody January shot!

Week two: Hello from (Sunrise)
There had been some wonderful sunrises all week as I drove to work. Unfortunately, I was not in a position to stop and capture some images. So I got up on Saturday morning to see if I could get something nice. It was not as colourful as some of the previous days, but it does sum up where I live!

Week three: Complementary Colours (Very Peri)
This week I had to capture an image using complementary colours. For extra credit, it had to include the Pantone colour of the year 2022, which is “Very Peri”. This is a pale purple colour, so I chose a bold yellow to complement it. The duck seemed an obvious choice for the yellow, so I went for a ” bathtime” themed image. I created the background digitally to ensure the colours match the duck and the flannel.

Week four: minimalist (nude)
I wasn’t feeling brave enough to attempt the extra credit this week. So instead I opted for a bracing walk along the seafront to see what inspired me. I came across this water outlet and thought it would make an interesting subject.
