Abstract wire photography

I recently spent a wet and miserable Saturday creating some new art! Find out how I created my abstract wire photography.

Abstract art

I am a fair weather photographer! I do love getting out with my camera. However, I am not going to go out in the wind and rain if I don’t have to! This is why I recently spent some time creating some new abstract art in the comfort of my own home. Today I am going to show you how I created these new images.

Intentional camera movement

I was inspired to create this image for one of the themes in my 52 frames project. The theme was to move the camera. I considered heading to the beach and capturing some ICM of the sea. However, the weather was not making that idea seem appealing!

Instead, I stayed at home and got out some pieces of copper wire. I attached it to a stand, and twisted it into different shapes.

Next, I lit the wire with a coloured lamp and set about taking some images. Then, I set my camera to 0″4 shutter and f/9. This allowed me to get a good exposure and give me enough time to move the camera.

Experimental photography

The next step was to play! I changed the colours on my light and altered the shapes of the wire. Eventually, I got some images I was pleased with.

Finally, I took the images into photoshop and tweaked some settings to give the image a little more impact.
