Capturing Stunning Small Red Damselfly Photos in West Sussex
I spent a lovely sunny afternoon at a lake in the West Sussex countryside. I was fortunate to capture some new summer insect photographs. These included images of some bees and a small red damselfly.
Southwater Country Park
It was a lovely day in early June. I was on a trip with work to visit Southwater Country Park in West Sussex. This is a wonderful location featuring a variety of activities for all ages. When my children were small we would visit for the dinosaur isle and freshwater swimming at the beach. For older children, there is a range of water sports to try. While we were visiting there were people sailing model boats and fishing at the lakes.
When I reached my tea break on this particular day it was time for me to have a wander in the stunning countryside and see what wildlife I could spot!
Small Red Damselfly
There were several of these fascinating insects flying around the lake on this particular afternoon. Fortunately, it was early in the day and the sun had not fully come out. This made the insects more docile and easier to photograph. This particular damselfly settled on this leaf for a long time warming itself in the sun.
