100-500mm lens opens up new photographic opportunities!
I have been lucky enough to treat myself to a new lens recently. I have wanted to get a lens with more reach for some time. So after some saving up it was time to buy the 100-500mm lens!
Excellent quality second-hand lenses
I decided to get a second-hand lens on this occasion. They are quite pricy and by purchasing from MPB I was able to get a very good quality lens. This also comes with a guarantee so there is the reassurance of buying through a commercial seller.
Testing the 100-500mm lens
My initial thoughts when the lens arrived were “Wow! This is a beast!” I have not had a lens of this size or weight before, so got concerned that I may not be able to handle it! However, reviews assured me that high-quality images could be gained by shooting handheld, due to the image stabilisation.
I took it out into the garden and decided to zoom in on bugs and beasties. It took me a while to adjust my grip. But eventually, I was getting a high “keeper” hit rate.
Once I got the images onto the computer I was blown away by the sharpness of the images and the lack of chromatic aberration, which some of my other lenses suffer from!
