A new year and some new challenges. Here is January 25!

A new year and a new challenge. 2025 marks my third year of the 52 frames project. This project challenges us to photograph something on a given theme every week for a year. As we come to the end of January, here is my first selection. Here is January 25. If you missed my 2024 images – why not go back and check them out.

Week 1: Self Portrait (use a remote)

I thought I would represent one of my hobbies with the self portrait challenge this year. I made some textures from some of my micrographs from last year and overlaid them onto my self portrait.

Week 2: What I eat (Studio set up)

This week I photographed some of my veggies before I made them into a delicious pasta meal! I based this loosely on an Edward Weston image.

Week 3: leading lines (involve a stranger)

As my “big” camera is in camera hospital at the moment, I had to make do with a phone shot. So I opted for this shot of me typing.

Week 4: something old (focus stacking)

This challenge gave me an excuse to play with my fossils! Here is one of my ammonites. In other news I have got my big camera back from the camera hospital, which allowed me to use the focus stacking setting to capture this image. I used 28 images to get the fossil in focus.

Week 5: Blue (contrasting colour)

It was hard to decided on a subject this week. So, I ended up on my “go to” theme! I have blue eyes, but decided to create a completely blue image with a coloured lamp. I tried going with the contrasting colour theme too. However, I prefered this all blue one!
