52 Frames, 4 Weeks: My September 25 Photo Journey

September was a month full of creative exploration as I continued my journey with the 52 Frames weekly photography challenge. Each week brought a new theme that pushed me to think differently, experiment with technique, and capture moments I might otherwise have overlooked. In this post, I’m sharing the images I created throughout the month, along with the stories and inspiration behind them. Whether it was playing with light, testing new perspectives, or simply embracing the challenge of showing up each week, these photographs represent both growth and joy in the creative process.

Week 36: Shoot from above (use a drone)

One of my souvenirs from my recent trip to Japan was some Japanese brushes, and ink. I love to dabble in art and thought that this would be a fun medium to play with. My first attempt at using the ink wasn’t perfect, but it was very enjoyable! I decided to immortalise it in my photo this week in the form of a flatlay!

Week 37: Out of Place (difference era props)

I wanted to cerated an oversized mug for the image this week. Then I had the idea that a plant could be growing from it.

Week 38: One light source (DIY modifier)

I used another of my purchases from my recent trip to Japan as my subject this week. This stuff is strong! So I wanted to create a dramatic look with it!

Week 39: Soundtrack (an instrumental piece)

Another image inspired by our recent trip to Japan. We visited a bar called “Incubator” which was a really entertaining science bar. All the food was served in science equipment. That in itself was fun. What made it more entertaining was when my daughter asked if the song playing was called Pi, as the lyrics were a long list of numbers! We managed to find the song on Spotify and indeed it was. It was also part of a series of songs made by the bar we were sitting in – all of which were science themed! So here is my photo/ digital art inspired by Incubator.

I sketched the pathogens and photographed them to be included in this image, and created science and smoke brushes to create atmosphere.
