Creating abstract photograph using oil and water
One of the challenges in May for the 52 frames project was to create an image using water. I opted for creating some abstract images using oil and water. While I only needed one image to complete the challenge that week, I spent an enjoyable afternoon creating multiple images.
Behind the scenes: abstract photography
The set up to create these images is fairly simple. I used my phone as a background featuring colourful shapes. I then placed a petri dish on a raised platform over the phone. Into this I poured some water and small amount of oil.

Next, I gentley stirred the water to create different sized bubbles of oil. Finally, I snapped away as the oil moved around refracting the different colours.
Here are some of my favourites from that afternoon.
